What I’m Looking Forward To – Gwen Smith

  • June 3, 2021

Summer is practically here and that means warmer weather and outdoor eating. I enjoy baking, but when the temperature rises outside, no one in my family appreciates me raising the temperature on the inside!

Below is a no-bake, easy to assemble family favorite dessert that will help keep things cool. The assembly is simple enough for your children/grandchildren to put together. Enjoy!

Ice Cream Sandwich Dessert

Ingredients:

-Store bought ice cream sandwiches (box of 12 for a 9×13” pan)
-1 jar of caramel or butterscotch ice cream topping
-1 tub of cool whip
-1 full size heath bar (freeze)

Using a 9×13” pan (glass or metal) un-wrap and place 12 ice cream sandwiches side by side in an ungreased pan. Add additional sandwiches to fill the pan completely to the edges.

Pour and spread ½ of the jar of ice cream sundae topping over the ice cream sandwiches.

Spread thawed container of cool whip on top of the sundae topping layer.

Remove frozen heath bar from the freezer and crack on the counter to get little pieces. Sprinkle pieces over the cool whip.

Drizzle sundae topping over the cool whip/heath bar layer. Cover with foil and put in the freezer until ready to serve. (Ready to serve in 2-4 hours) You can make an 8×8 or 9X9 size using less ingredients.
