Abi Hume grew up in the Conejo Valley attending Hillcrest School and playing Club Soccer with Simi Valley Eclipse. Her family attended Malibu Presbyterian Church many many moons ago, but she spent the majority of her time as a part of Calvary Community Church. Her college journey began at Azusa Pacific University where she was a scholarshipped athlete with both the women’s soccer program as well as the Track and Field team as a high jumper. After a couple years of soccer, she decided to focus on her aspirations on track and field.
During a couple of her summers during college, she served as an intern with the high school and middle school ministries at Calvary Community Church. She finished APU with a Kinesiology degree and a minor in Youth and Family Ministry.
When she completed college, she still had a couple of years of eligibility remaining, and so she was able to take her high jumping talents to Indiana Wesleyan College where she was able to pursue a Master’s Degree in Spiritual Care with an emphasis in Congregational Formation.
As she completes her Master’s degree, she is interested in seeing how a church functions beyond the doors of the youth ministry. So we are blessed to have Abi with us this summer to serve in three areas of ministry:
- Youth Ministry
- Children’s Ministry
- Worship Ministry
I hope you will take the time this summer to welcome her and get to know her. She has so much to offer MPC as well as so much to offer the Kingdom in the future. You want to know more about her? Ask her to coffee – lunch – dinner. She is thrilled to join the MPC Congregation this summer and cannot wait to meet everyone.
Peace,
Keenan
